Strain gauges are widely used in many measurement applications, regardless of static or dynamic conditions. A strain gauge is sometimes referred to as an electrical resistance strain gauge or simply a resistance strain gauge. They are used in measurement applications where the outputs fluctuate significantly due to the deformation of the mechanical object being tested, and they can also be used in dynamic measurement applications. They are commonly used for objects subjected to stress and torsion. The property referred to as "strain" is the ratio of the change in length of an object to its original length. A strain gauge can measure the amount of this change caused by an external force and convert it into an electrical signal that can be displayed, collected, and analyzed, which can then be converted into digital values.
GeoAnts SSG (Adhesive Strain Gauge) has a structure made of aluminum body with a strain gauge placed on its inner part. The strain gauge is adhered to the surface to be measured with a strong adhesive (epoxy). The strain effects experienced by the section are transmitted to the body and the strain gauge. The instantaneous strain changes that occur, along with mechanical changes, are reflected as a signal output to the measurement unit. Depending on the scaling factor, the deformation or stress in the section can be easily calculated. No welding is required at any stage from installation to measurement.
