Hollow Core – A computer-controlled Cyclic Torsional Shear Test Device to investigate the soil behavior under static or cyclic loading conditions.
Features
- Conventional three-axis features (back pressure saturation under drained and undrained conditions, consolidation, and axial shear stages).
- The ability to control the three fundamental stresses affecting the soil (for example, 𝜎1, 𝜎2, 𝜎3).
- Option to perform torsional monotonic shear to examine the static shear strength of the soil.
- Option to perform torsional cyclic shear to investigate cyclic resistance and liquefaction.
- Option to measure shear strength after liquefaction.
What Can Be Done?
- Twisting shear at a suitable strain level in the frequency range of 0.0125 Hz to 2 Hz.
- Strain/stress controlled user-defined irregular loading/strain tests.
- Consolidation under isotropic and anisotropic conditions.
- Three-axis or stress path shear test after the bending cut.
Data recording
8-channel FastDAQ data recorder with SD card backup data recording using the free data logging software GeoGram.
Control
With the GeoAnts Controller software, stress and strain control tests can be performed.
Security features
Upper and lower limit switch to stop the actuator's excessive movement.
Left and right stop switch mechanism to stop the actuator's excessive movement.
Built-in software safety shutdown when sensors reach maximum.
External emergency stop, overcurrent and overtemperature shutdown protection.
