The comparator resembles a clock in appearance and is a dial control instrument. The parallelism of surfaces, whether the axes are in the same direction, and the measurement and alignment checks of precision machine parts are performed with a comparator.
The use of comparators is quite extensive. They are commonly used in areas such as external diameter control, internal diameter control, control of linear motion, adjustment of machine tools, height control, perpendicularity control of surfaces, mutual position control, surface parallelism, depth control, discharge control, and production control. Its most important feature is that it magnifies the differences on the surfaces being measured, making it easier to read the values.
