The deformation behavior of structures interacting with soil and rock masses can be determined using borehole extensometers. A three-point rod extensometer is primarily used to monitor the changes in distance between anchorage points fixed at certain depths along a nearly horizontal axis in the borehole or the front face of support structures and a measurement head on the surface.
As deformation occurs in the system, the distances between the anchors and the reference point of the head change, and the determination of the degree of deformation is achieved through periodic measurements. The single-point bar extensometer that we offer optionally provides measurement capability for a single anchor point, while multi-point extensometers present the deformation distribution output for different points within a single drilling operation.
